Four of the men accused in a gang rape have been sentenced to death.
The Iranian Student News Agency (ISNA) reports that Gholamreza Ansari, the head of the Esfahan Justice Department, told a press conference today that four of the accused in this case have been sentenced to death for rape and will be hanged in public in Khomeinishahr.
Three more accused have been sentenced to imprisonment and lashes and another was acquitted.
The accused in the case are charged with entering a private orchard in Khomeinishahr, Esfahan and raping the women after locking up the men in attendance.
Farid Salavati, the journalist who reported on the incident, was arrested and held for a week of interrogation.
The head of the Justice Department announced that the accused have 20 days to appeal their sentence.
In recent months, many political figures have sounded alarm bells over the deterioration of public safety in Iran. In response, many senior government officials, including Tehran’s Prosecutor, have lashed out against the media for overzealous reporting.

متهمان پرونده بیست روز فرصت دارند تا به حکم صادر شده اعتراض کنند
رئیس دادگستری استان اصفهان اعلام کرد که متهمان ردیف اول تا چهارم در پرونده تجاوز به عنف در خمینی شهر، به اعدام در یکی از میادین اصلی همان شهر محکوم شده اند
به گزارش خبرگزاری مهر غلامرضا انصاری، رئیس دادگستری استان اصفهان امروز، پنج شنبه ۲۰ مرداد ضمن اعلام این خبر گفت، سه متهم دیگر این پرونده به حبس و شلاق محکوم شده اند و برای دو متهم دیگر نیز، رای برائت صادر شده است
آقای انصاری با بیان اینکه پرونده متهمان برای اعلام رای نهایی به دیوان عالی کشور ارسال شده گفت که رای صادره به تمامی شکات و متهمان ابلاغ شده است و متهمان ۲۰ روز فرصت دارند تا به حکم خود اعتراض کنند
به گزارش رسانه های ایران، تعدادی از “اراذل و اوباش” روز دوم خرداد در یکی از روستاهای نزدیک “خمینی شهر” در استان اصفهان به یک مهمانی خصوصی که در باغی برگزار شده بود وارد شده و پس از حبس مردان حاضر در مهمانی در یک اطاق، به تعدادی از زنان و دختران “تعرض” کرده اند
رسانه های ایران همچنین تصاویر و گزارش هایی از تجمع مردم “خمینی شهر” در مقابل دادگستری این شهر منتشر کردند که به این واقعه و “کم توجهی” مسئولان اعتراض داشتند
واکنش ها به حادثه خمینی شهر
چند روز پس از حادثه خمینی شهر،مردم این شهر با تجمع در برابر دادگستری خواهان برخورد مسئولان با مسببان این واقعه شده بودند
بیست روز پس از این واقعه، دادستان کل کشور در روز دوشنبه ۲۳ خرداد ماه گفت: “یکی از تاکیدات ما، برخورد با افراد شرور و اراذل و اوباش است. دستگاه قضایی، نیروی انتظامی و سیستم اطلاعاتی باید نسبت به این موضوعات حساسیت داشته باشند تا اینگونه حوادث تکرار نشود
محسنی اژه ای در ادامه افزود: “از سوی دیگر به خانوادهها سفارش می کنیم تا اقداماتی که موجب خدشهدار شدن عفت عمومی می شود، انجام ندهند. برخی از تعرضات به دلیل کوتاهی های اولیه است
پیش از این هم تعدادی از مقامات محلی ضمن اظهار تاسف و اعتراض به واقعه تجاوز دسته جمعی به زنان حاضر در این میهمانی، از پوشش نامناسب آنها انتقاد کرده بودند
موسی سالمی، امام جمعه خمینی شهر گفته بود که “اینها (کسانی که به آنها تعرض صورت گرفته) آدمهای علیهالسلامی نبودند.” او افزوده بود که “اینجا نود درصد به محمود احمدی نژاد رای دادهاند، اما در عوض خیری ندیده اند.” و اضافه کرده: “شاید این کار نقشه دشمنان بوده باشد
رئیس پلیس آگاهی اصفهان هم در این رابطه گفته بود که “آنها (مهمانان) اگر لباس مناسب داشتند شاید اینطوری نمیشد
اگرچه دادستان خمینی شهر گفت که: “اینها توجیه تجاوز نیست و مردم پشت دیوار خانه هایشان باید امنیت داشته باشند
دادستان دادگستری استان اصفهان نیز گفت که “هماهنگیهایی با مسئولین قوه قضایی به عمل آمده است تا این پرونده بصورت ویژه و فوق العاده در دیوان عالی کشور هم مطرح شود تا انشاءالله بزودی مردم محل شاهد مجازات افرادی که هنجار شکنی می کنند باشند
تجاوز به عنف یکی از نگرانی های کارشناسان در سالهای اخیر است. بر اساس گزارشها گفته شده است که در چند ماه گذشته ۱۴ نفر به جرم تجاوز در ایران اعدام شده اند
یکی از پرونده های جنجالی در سالهای گذشته تجاوز سه نفر به زن سرایداری در مقابل فرزندان خانواده او در لواسان است
این حادثه موجی از نگرانی و واکنش مقامهای ایران را برانگیخت و رئیس قوه قضائیه با دستوری ویژه به دادگاه کیفری استان تهران خواهان رسیدگی فوری به این پرونده شد
مورد دیگر هم تجاوز “شش نفر” به یک زن در منطقه قیامدشت تهران در سال ۱۳۸۸ بود. این حادثه نیز انتقادات زیادی را به دنبال داشت
در آخرین مورد از این اتفاقات در اواخر خرداد سالجاری، امام جمعه کاشمر از تجاوز گروهی به زنی در روستای قوشمر کاشان خبر داد
این در حالی است که اسماعیل احمدی مقدم، فرمانده نیروی انتظامی اعلام کرد که “انعکاس وسیع رسانه ای جرم تجاوز به عنف در جامعه تولید ناامنی روانی می کند
صادق لاریجانی، رئیس قوه قضایه ایران نیز پیش از این از رسانهها خواسته بود که “به این موضوعات نپردازند، زیرا به امنیت اجتماعی مردم لطمه وارد میکند
