Japanese crane manufacturer Tadano has announced that it has ended business with the Iranian regime following reports that its cranes have been used to stage public executions in Iran.
Tadano’s announcement comes just days after the president of United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI), Mark Wallace, wrote in a Los Angeles Times op-edthat the company exports cranes to Iran which have been misused in what he called the regime’s “execution binge.”
UANI praised Tadano’s decision to cut ties with Iran.
“Tadano is a responsible corporation and its decision is another example of an international company taking the right action in the wake of UANI’s Cranes Campaign,” said Wallace in a statement. “UANI hopes that even more crane companies will end their business in Iran as the bright light of world attention is cast on Iran’s barbaric execution binge.”
United Against Nuclear Iran first brought the issue to the attention of the crane manufacturer in May. In a press release, UANI named Japanese company Tadano and another company, Furukawa UNIC, as a provider of hydraulic cranes to Iran. According to the release,photographic evidence shows that Iranian citizens have been executed using cranes from both Japanese companies.
“As part of its newly launched “Cranes Campaign,” UANI is highlighting the Iranian regime’s abhorrent public executions by hanging from construction cranes,” UANI said in the May press release. “The disturbing reality that these cranes are coming from Western and Asian companies.”
Terex Corp. and Caterpillar, two top U.S. construction manufacturers, and Japan’s Komatsu have terminated business ties with Iran.
According to Amnesty International, more than 135 executions have taken place in Iran just this year. At least 13 of those executions were public hangings.

اکنون کمپین «اتحاد علیه ایران هستهای» میگوید که شرکت تادانو متقاعد شده است که فروش جرثقیل به ایران را متوقف کند. این کمپین پیشتر یک شرکت سازنده جرثقیل در تگزاس را نیز متقاعد کرده بود که از فروش محصولاتش به ایران خودداری کند
ایران یکی از کشورهایی است که سالانه اجرای بیشترین مجازات اعدام را در کارنامه خود دارد و از این لحاظ بعد از چین دارای بالاترین آمار مجازات اعدام است
گرچه بسیاری از این اعدامها، خارج از انظار عمومی انجام میشوند اما بر اساس گزارش اخیر سازمان عفو بینالملل، جمهوری اسلامی در چهار ماه ابتدایی سال ۲۰۱۱، دست کم ۱۳ نفر را در ملأ عام اعدام کرده است که تقریباً برابر با کل موارد سال ۲۰۱۰ میلادی است. این میزان در دو ماهه اخیر نیز رو به افزایش بوده است
بر اساس گزارش عفو بینالملل، جمهوری اسلامی ایران در سال ۲۰۱۰ میلادی دستکم ۲۵۲ تن را اعدام کرده است که ۱۴ تن از این موارد در انظار عمومی صورت گرفته است
حکم اعدام بر اساس قانون مجازات اسلامی برای پارهای از اتهامها، از جمله محاربه و افساد فیالارض صادر میشود و تجاوز به عنف و قاچاق مخدر از جمله اتهامهایی که در دستهبندی افساد فیالارض قرار گرفته و منتهی به صدور حکم اعدام میشوند
ایران همچنین بیشترین آمار اعدام مجرمان صغیر را داراست و با توجیه اجرای این احکام با قانون اسلامی قصاص، مجرمان صغیر را پس از ورود به سن ۱۸ سالگی به چوبه دار میسپارد
رشد فزاینده میزان اعدامها در ایران با واکنش گسترده بینالمللی روبهرو شده و کمیساریای عالی حقوق بشر سازمان ملل بارها از این روند ابراز نگرانی کرده است
ایالات متحده آمریکا و اتحادیه اروپا نیز با ابراز نگرانی از افزایش اعدامها در ایران از جمهوری اسلامی خواسته است به میثاقهای بینالمللی حقوق بشر پایبند باشد و اعدام زندانیان را متوقف کند
