Mohammad Seifzadeh
Mohammad Seifzadeh, an Iranian lawyer detained two weeks ago, is under severe pressure from the Islamic Republic authorities and his life is in danger, according to his attorney.
Marzieh Nikara, Seifzadeh’s attorney told the International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran that she is unable to gain information regarding her client’s case, and the authorities have not yet allowed her to read his file.
Nikara told the Campaign: “Unfortunately, when I went to the Orumiyeh Intelligence Office with Mr. Seifzadeh’s son on 23 April, they did not allow me to visit with my client. I don’t even know on what day and where exactly he was detained, and I wasn’t allowed to read his file, either. Only his son was allowed to see him for about two minutes. He said his father has lost a lot of weight, he was limping, and that it was quite clear he was under stress.”
She added: “We had no news of Mr. Seifzadeh for two weeks. It appears that he went to Orumiyeh for a research project on 6 April. He contacted his home on 21 April, and informed [his family] that he was inside the Orumiyeh Intelligence Office. But the investigating judge in the case said Mr. Seifzadeh was detained on 11 April. The investigative judge said that when his case arrived in the branch, he ordered [Seifzadeh's] interrogator to allow him to contact his family that same day, but this did not happen until 21 April.”
According to Nikara, Seifzadeh is accused of “acting against national security through illegal exit,’ but she has not been informed of any evidence that supports these allegations.
Seifzadeh is currently under temporary detention orders at the ministry of Intelligence. Nikara added: “Now what is important is that my client is ill, he has a heart condition, and if this situation should continue, his life could be in danger.”
The International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran has called for the immediate release of Mohammad Seifzadeh.
Iranian Nobel Peace laureate Shirin Ebadi has also called on the UN special rapporteur on the independence of judges and lawyers to use all its legal powers for the release of Seifzadeh.
A prominent human rights lawyer and one of the founders of the Human Rights Defenders Centre, Seifzadeh was arrested last November and sentenced to nine years in prison and a 10-year ban from practicing law. He is charged with “collusion and assembly with intent to disturb national security, propaganda activities against the regime and establishment of the Human Rights Defenders Centre.” His sentence was under review at the appellate court.

مرضیه نیکآرا افزود پسر محمد سیفزاده پس از ملاقات دو دقیقهای با پدرش گفت که وی ریشهای بلندی داشت، خیلی لاغر شده بود و یکی از پاهایش میلنگید و کاملأ مشخص بود که تحت فشار است
با توجه به ناراحتی قلبی آقای سیفزاده؛ وکیل او میگوید اگر این وضع ادامه پیدا کند جان وی در خطر خواهد بود
خانم نیکآرا در مورد چگونگی پیبردن به اینکه محمد سیفزاده در ارومیه بازداشت است گفت موکلاش ۱۷ فروردینماه برای پروژه تحقیقاتی به ارومیه رفت و در روز اول اردیبهشت با منزل خود تماس گرفت و گفت در اداره اطلاعات ارومیه بهسرمیبرد
وکیل محمد سیفزاده گفت که بازپرس پرونده موکلاش گفته است وی در تاریخ ۲۲ فروردینماه بازداشت شده است
به گفته خانم نیکآرا اتهام محمد سیفزاده «اقدام علیه امنیت ملی از طریق خروج غیر قانونی» اعلام شده است و با قرار بازداشت موقت در اداره اطلاعات ارومیه است
وی افزود: تا الان دلیلی برای قصد خروج از کشور آقای سیفزاده عنوان نشده است اگر دلایلی را ارائه کنند آن وقت من هم بر اساس آنها رسیدگی خواهم کرد وگرنه قرار بازداشت موقت ایشان را به قرار وثیقه تبدیل میکنم
مرضیه نیکآرا ادامه داد: بازپرس پرونده استدلالاش این است که ارومیه شهر مرزی است و مرزی با ترکیه دارد. و همه استدلالاش این است که چرا آقای سیفزاده به شهرهای مرکزی برای کارهای تحقیقاتی نرفته و در ارومیه کار تحقیقاتی میکرده است
وی در مورد پروژه تحقیقاتی محمد سیفزاده، به دلیل اینکه هنوز موفق به دیدار وی نشده است اظهار بیاطلاعی کرد، با این حال در اینباره گفت: چیزی که از میان کلام بازپرس پرونده مشخص بود این بود که آقای سیفزاده در بازجوییهای خود اعلام کردهاند برای پروژه تحقیقاتی تقریبأ از ۲۰-۳۰ نفر افغانی در ارومیه تحقیق کردهاند
شیرین عبادی، برنده جایزه صلح نوبل در نامهای خطاب به گزارشگر ویژه سازمان ملل متحد برای استقلال قضات و وکلا از وی خواسته است که برای آزادی محمد سیفزاده و دیگر وکلای بازداشت شده در ایران از کلیه امکانات قانونی خود استفاده کند
وی نوشته است: با توجه به افزایش فشارها و محدودیتهای غیر قانونی برای وکلا و مدافعان حقوق بشر، تعقیب قضائی و پروندهسازی برای وکلایی که از پرونده زندانیان سیاسی و عقیدتی دفاع میکنند، دیگر ادامه فعالیت حقوقی برای وکلای حقوق بشری بسیار دشوار و حتا غیر ممکن گردیده است
محمد سیفزاده، حقوقدان، مدافع حقوق بشر و عضو بنیانگذار کانون مدافعان حقوق بشر آبانماه سال گذشته از سوی شعبه ۱۵ دادگاه انقلاب به ۹ سال حبس و ۱۰ سال محرومیت از وکالت محکوم گردید. دادگاه وی را به «تبانی و اجتماع به قصد برهم زدن امنیت داخلی»، «فعالیت تبلیغی علیه نظام» و نیز «تأسیس کانون مدافعان حقوق بشر» متهم کرده و پرونده در مرحله تجدیدنظر قرار دارد
محمد سیفزاده از جمله قضاتی است که پس از انقلاب اسلامی از سمت خود برکنار شد. وی بیشتر از ۱۰ سال اجازه فعالیت در حوزههای حقوقی را نداشت و از خرداد ماه ۱۳۸۳ نیز به درخواست وزارت اطلاعات به مدت ۲۰ سال ممنوعالخروج است
