U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clintonaccused Iran of trying to hijack democratic revolutions around the Mideast and warned Arab nations not to permit intolerance against women and religious minorities, Associated Press reported.
Clinton said Iran was clearly trying to use uprisings around the region to further its own goals and foment broader unrest while at the same time cracking down on its own reform movement.
“I think that that everyone is aware if its efforts to exploit and even hijack what are legitimate protests. But certainly in an era of instant communication we hope that people will not be fooled by their tactics.”
Clinton said the U.S. sees “no evidence yet that Iran instigated such protests but we do see activities by Iran to try to take advantage of these uprisings.”
A number of countries in the Middle East and North Africa, particularly Tunisia, Egypt, Bahrain, Yemen and Libya, have observed waves of popular discontent since early 2011. These resulted in riots and protests against the existing regimes in these countries. Unrests have led to the downfall of the ruling regimes in Egypt and Tunisia. A fierce struggle continues between the authorities and armed insurgents in Libya.
Earlier, Haaretz reported that the Iranians have been able to act with greater impunity and has smuggled more weapons to Hezbollah, Syria and Palestina in recent months, taking advantage of the wave of unrest in the Middle East.
“Iran is inciting the entire region, from Afghanistan and Yemen to Egypt and Morocco,” senior Israeli government officials told Haaretz.
According to Western intelligence, only a relatively small quantity of smuggled Iranian weapons is currently being intercepted.
On April 3, Gulf Cooperation Council countries condemned Iran for its efforts to interfere in the internal affairs of member states of the organization. The corresponding statement was made at an extraordinary Council meeting in the Saudi capital Riyadh.
Participants of the meeting put on Iran the responsibility for attempts to create internal division in Bahrain, where mass protests of the Shiite opposition are spreading against the policy of the Sunni royal dynasty.
The Council also condemned Iran’s interference in the internal affairs of Yemen.

خانم کلینتون که در حاشیه نشست وزیران امور خارجه کشورهای عضو ناتو در برلین با خبرنگاران سخن میگفت، در عین حال گفته است، هیچگونه شواهدی در دست نیست که نشان دهد، ایران مسبب اعتراضها در خاورمیانه بوده است
وزیر امور خارجه آمریکا همچنین اظهار داشته است: با این حال ما شاهد فعالیتهایی از جانب ایرانیها برای سواستفاده از این اعتراضها هستیم، آنها سعی میکنند از این اعتراضها بهرهبرداری کنند
هیلاری کلینتون همچنین افزوده است: «ایرانیها به دنبال پیش بردن مقاصد خود در کشورهای همسایه هستند، آنها همچنان به تلاش خود برای بر هم زدن صلح و ثبات در منطقه ادامه میدهند و به دنبال دامن زدن به تنشها هستند.»

از سوی دیگر همزمان با اظهارات وزیر امور خارجه آمریکا در متهم کردن جمهوری اسلامی به تلاش برای برهم زدن صلح و ثبات در منطقه خاورمیانه، محمود عباس، رئیس تشکیلات خودگردان فلسطینی نیز گفته است، ایران به گروه اسلامگرای حماس دستور داده است که در گفت و گوهای آشتی ملی با سازمان فتح شرکت نکند
آقای عباس با بیان این که حماس از دادن پاسخی به طرح تشکیل یک دولت جدید فلسطینی و برگزاری انتخابات تازه خودداری میکند، گفته است: «وقتی که آنها (اعضای حماس) اختلاف نظر دارند، تنها یک تصمیم وجود دارد و آن هم از سوی ایران دیکته میشود. ایران به آنها میگوید که چه کاری باید بکنند و چه کاری نباید بکنند، زیرا آنها از ایران پول میگیرند و در مقابل از دستورهای ایران اطاعت میکنند
