Since Tuesday afternoon, all phone lines to the home of outspoken opposition leader Mahdi Karroubi have been cut off, according to a report published by Saham News, the website of the National Trust Party (Etemade Melli) which is headed by Karroubi himself.
“All of the house’s telephone lines have been cut off. We don’t know what these men [the authorities] aim to do by such childish and ridiculous actions, but whatever their goal is, such acts cannot hamper with our will and resolve to defend the people’s rights,” Karroubi’s wife Fatemeh Karroubi told Saham News.
Fatemeh Karroubi condemned the recent attack against of the families of two of Iran’s most senior commanders during its eight-year with the Iraqi invader, Hamid Bakeri and Mohammad Ebrahim Hemmat, two names which have stayed in the collective memory of Iranians as national heroes until today. The families have be vocal supporters of the opposition Green Movement, much to the fury of authorities who, without a doubt, see this as another embarrassing defeat and a further loss of legitimacy for Iran’s current oppressive rulers.
On Wednesday, authorities arrested Ehsan Bakeri, son of Iranian war hero Hamid Bakeri for a number of hours as he was making his to the house of Mahdi Karroubi along with the family of late Commander Mohammad Ebrahim. They had to decided to move towards the former parliament speaker’s house after they had been prevented by security forces, from meeting with former prime minister Mir Hossein Mousavi on Wednesday morning. According to reports, pepper spray was used against the families during today’s disgraceful attacks against two of Iran’s dearest families.
In addition, on Monday, supporters of the Green Movement across the capitol city Tehran, sent a chilling message to the authorities and once more chanting “Allah-O-Akbar” (God is Greatest) on rooftops and reaffirming their support for opposition leaders in the case of any move by authorities to take action against 2009 presidential candidates Mir Hossein Mousvai and Mahdi Karroubi.

خانم کروبی در ادامه اقدام نیروهای منیتی مستقر درب منزل ایشان را در برخورد با خانواده شهیدان باکری و همت به شدت محکوم نمود و از این شیوه برخورد با خانواده شهدا بویژه خانواده این دو شهید، آنهم در سالروز آغاز جنگ تحمیلی ابراز تاسف کرد
