Private pharmacies in the country, are in the verge of bankruptcy due to lack of governmental support and long delays on insurance reimbursements.
Activists believe 70 percent of a pharmacy’s fund stays in insurance company between five to seven months, which has caused them to temporarily close at times.
Rahbar Mozhdehi Azar, head of the Iranian Pharmacists Association said: “When the pharmacy’s are to receive money for their services with several months of delay, they loose their enthusiasm and thus close down.”
With more than 14 thousand pharmacist working at pharmacies, training centers, , pharmaceutical factories and research centers across the country, the shortage in this field is still noticeable.
Nevertheless, weakness and serious problems in the running of pharmacies due to insurance companies’ obstructionism has caused pharmacies to face difficulties with pharmaceutical organizations and forced them to turn their pharmacies to health and beauty supply shops just to make ends meet.

فعالان این صنف معتقدند، 70 درصد گردش اقتصادی یک داروخانه در صندوق سازمانهای بیمه ای به مدت پنج تا هفت ماه میماند که باعث بی انگیزگی و تعطیلی موقت برخی داروخانهها شده است
رهبر مژدهی آذر، رئیس انجمن داروسازان ایران میگوید: وقتی قرار است داروخانه ها امروز خدمات بدهند و چند ماه بعد پول آن را دریافت کنند دیگر انگیزهای برای آنها باقی نمیماند و در نتیجه خانهنشین میشوند
هم اکنون بیش از 14 هزار داروساز عضو انجمن داروسازان ایران در داروخانهها، مراکز آموزشی، پژوهشگاهها و کارخانههای داروسازی سراسر کشور مشغول کار هستند؛ اما همچنان کمبود نیروی داروساز در رشتههای تخصصی احساس میشود
با این وجود ناتوانی و بروز مشکلات جدی در گردش امور داروخانه ها به دلیل کارشکنی سازمانهای بیمهگر شرایطی فراهم آورده تا داروخانهها در تامین دارو از شرکتهای پخش دارویی با مشکل مواجه شده و ناچار داروخانه خود را تبدیل به فروشگاه لوازم بهداشتی و آرایشی کنند تا شاید بتوانند به فعالیت خود ادامه دهند
