At least 20 people have been killed and more than 100 wounded in two suicide bombings outside a mosque in south-eastern Iran.

Members of Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guards were among those who died when the blast struck outside the main mosque in Zahedan, the capital of Sistan-Baluchistan province, IRNA state news agency reported.

“The first explosion took place behind a checkpoint, and a number of Revolutionary Guard members were killed and injured because of it,” Ali Abdollahi, the deputy interior minister, told the Fars news agency.

The head of the province’s medical emergency department, Fariborz Rashedi, said: “In the two explosions in Zahedan more than 20 people were killed and over 100 were injured.”

Local prosecutor Mohammad Marzieh told IRNA that 21 people had died.

No group has yet claimed of responsibility for the bombings. But Hoseinali Shahriari, Zahedan’s MP, told Fars he believed Sunni insurgent group Jundullah were behind the attacks.

Jundullah, or Soldiers of God, are accused by Tehran of mounting terrorist attacks with the support of the US, Britain and Pakistan. The government also claims they are linked to al-Qaida.

The group, which is based in Sistan-Baluchistan province, has claimed responsibility for bombings that have killed scores in recent years, including five senior commanders of the Revolutionary Guard last year.

The insurgents say they are fighting for the rights of the Sunni Baluch minority in south-eastern Iran, whom they claim are discriminated against by the Shia regime.

In June, Iran hanged the group’s leader, Abdulhamalek Rigi, in Zahedan after he was found guilty of carrying out attacks against civilians, armed robbery, and engaging in a disinformation campaign against Iran. His elder brother, Abdulhamid, was executed in May after being captured in Pakistan in 2008 and extradited to Iran.

معاون امنیتی وزارت کشور گفت: تا این لحظه(ساعت 23) انفجار در زاهدانحدود 15 نفر شهید و 22 نفر مجروح برجای گذاشته است که احتمالا این تعداد افزایش خواهد یافت

انفجارهای عصر امروز شهرستان زاهدان بعد از نماز مغرب و عشاء که این روزها به دلیل مراسم میلاد سوم شعبان کمی نیز طولانی است اتفاق افتاده است.

هنوز هیچ گروه یا فردی مسئولیت این انفجارها را بر عهده نگرفته است.

براساس بررسی‌های انجام شده تا این لحظه این انفجار حدود 15 نفر شهید و 22 نفر مجروح برجای گذاشته است که احتمالا این تعداد افزایش خواهد یافت.

دو انفجار در مسجد جامع شهرستان زاهدان اتفاق افتاده است. انفجار اول که انتحاری بوده پشت محل بازرسی صورت گرفته و موجب شهادت و مجروح شدن تعدادی از پاسداران انقلاب اسلامی شده است.

انفجار دوم زمانی رخ داده که مردم پس از انفجار اول در این محل تجمع کرده بودند و این انفجار تلفات بیشتری داشته است.

اطلاعات دقیق‌تر نیازمند بررسی دقیق و بیشتری است که متعاقبا اعلام خواهد شد. از آنجایی که گروه‌های تروریستی و افراد شرور از جانب دشمنان نظام جمهوری اسلامی ایران مخصوصا آمریکا حمایت می‌شوند و اخیرا نیز شاهد حمایت امریکا از گروه تروریستی ریگی بودیم چه بسا جریانات دیگری نیز تحت حمایت آمریکا قرار گرفته‌اند که به این گونه عملیات‌های تروریستی اقدام می‌کنند.

هدف از انجام اینگونه عملیات‌های تروریستی ایجاد اختلاف میان اهل تسنن و شیعیان است.

اخیرا و بخصوص بعد از دستگیری ریگی شاهد شرایط خوبی در این منطقه بودیم که مردم نیز از آن رضایت داشتند و حتی تعداد بالای سفرهای نوروزی نیز نشان از امنیت بالای این مناطق داشت که این موضوع برای برخی‌ها قابل تحمل نبود از همین رو گروه‌ها و افراد شرور را به انجام عملیات‌های تروریستی تحریک می‌کنند.
