After more than 100 days after the arrest of Koohyar Goodarzi, the CHRR member is still detained while in a state of limbo. Reports indicate that the interrogators of the case are maintaining pressure on him.
According to Koohyar Goodarzi’s family, Evin prison officials refuse to receive clothes, books, and personal items to pass on to him. Meanwhile, many other political prisoners have been released or the pressure on them has been lifted for the occasion of Norooz (Persian New Year).
Koohyar Goodarzi currently shares a cell with Jafar Panahi (renowned filmmaker).
The interrogators have expressed discontent over the lack of cooperation by Goodarzi and have made serious allegations against him.
On Norooz day, security forces prevented Koohyar Goodarzi`s mother from setting a Haft-Seen table in front of Evin prison (a traditional decorative table set up for Norooz).
Due to pressures by security agents, Goodarzi was expelled from Sharif University of Technology in November 2009. Goodarzi was studying aerospace engineering.
The journalist and human rights activist has been a member of the Islamic Student Union of Sharif University, the secretary for CHRR, a programmer for Radio Zamaneh, a member of the human rights committee of the Advar Tahkim Vahdat organization, and a member of Tahkim Vahdat (Allameh Branch).
