Security Forces in Kurdistan Offer $100 Blood Money to Families of Their Victims

porterkurd1Over the past few months, a large number of merchants and residents of the border region in Kurdistan have been killed after being shot by security forces. The ongoing border shootings have led to a wave of discontent among the residents.
According to a RAHANA reporter, the majority of the victims’ families have been outraged by government’s $100 compensation offer, and have refused to accept the blood money.
Additionally, in recent days merchants have been warned to stop using their horses to carry merchandise, hence creating a lot of difficulty for them to conduct their day-to-day business.
In a separate incident, security forces in Marivan, harassed a group of about 70 border merchants forcing them to walk barefoot in the snow from a border crossing to the police station in Jazniava village.\

  1. it is my first comment on this web and at first I would like to thank you for the great information, which I were able to find in this and all previous posts , it really helped me very much. I will definitely add this blog on my rss reader ;) Also, I would like to ask – don’t you mind if I will quate some information from your blog because I am writing articles for the Hub pages, Ezine and other articles directories (this is my part time job)? It would really help me with some of mine articles. Of course, I will mention your blog title or URL (not all articles directories allows URL’s , so I can’t 100% promise that you will get a direct link to your website).
