Ali Akbar Ajami, a leftist student activist has been transferred to Tehran’s Evin Prison two weeks after his arrest in the eastern city of Sabzevar.
Ali Akbar Ajami, a member of the Students for Freedom and Equality, has been transferred from Sabzevar prison to Tehran’s Evin prison. According to a RAHANA reporter, he has not been able to contact or meet with his family since detained.
Ajami was arrested on February 10, 2010 after his parents’ home was raided by five Ministry of Intelligence agents. No explanation was provided for his arrest. His family members were also harassed and threatened by the agents.
Prior to his arrest, Ajami had been repeatedly threatened and harassed by the Ministry of Intelligence.
Born in 1984, the University of Tehran law student was banned from the dormitory at the beginning of the school year for his civil rights activism.
In his blog called “A Better World”, Ajami wrote, “I will remain here and stand firm only to say: a better world is possible, even for this land.”
