On Monday, February 8th, 2010, intelligence agents raided the residence of Asou Kolah-Ghoochi in the Bardasht neighbourhood of Sanandaj, arrested the female Kurdish activist and assaulted her family members. There is still no information on Kolah-Ghoochi’s current whereabouts or the reasons for her arrest.
On Thursday, February 11th, 2010, Ali Ghadermarzi, a psychologist who works for the health department in the Kurdish city of Gharveh, was arrested by agents from the Intelligence Ministry. Ghadermarzi, who is a civil rights activist, was once arrested and detained for a period in the fall of 1997 for associating with Kurdish political parties. There is no word on Ghadermarzi’s current whereabouts or the reasons for his arrest, and his family remains in the dark.
The Revolutionary Court in Saghez sentenced Bakhtiar Khoshnam, a recently arrested local activist, to 14 months in jail and 2 years exile in Sirjan. Khoshnam, who is an expelled Zanjan University political science student, has had 4 prior arrests, all of which were for having ties to Kurdish opposition groups. He is currently serving his term at Saghez Central Prison but will be exiled to Sirjan upon completion of his sentence.
Also arrested is Ebrahim Sharifpoor, who worked for Mousavi’s campaign during the June presidential election. He was arrested on February 9th, 2010 at his home in the Kurdish city of Baneh.
