Intelligence Ministry Detains 7 People for Links to Radio Farda

3531The intelligence Ministry announced in a statement, 7 people had been arrested for alleged links to Radio Farda and playing an active role in collecting and sending information on Ashura.
The statement said that seven people “linked to the counter-revolutionaries, the Zionist media and elements of the sedition” had been arrested. According to the statement the 7 arrested people were planning to leave the country after February 11th (the anniversary of the Islamic Revolution). It did not name them or say where they were held.
Since the June presidential election, scores of journalist have been arrested and accused of being linked to foreign media organizations.
The statement also said the detainees had received training outside Iran, for example in disrupting public order, spreading rumors and conducting sabotage.
In the days leading to the anniversary of the 1979 revolution, the arrests of journalists and activists have intensified. Today’s arrests include 3 journalists, Somayeh Momeni, Mahsa Jazini and Akbar Montakhabi.
